Think It. Believe It. Live It!

I’m in Limestone, Maine about 15 miles north of Caribou, Maine and very close to the Canadian Border. This whole area is known as Aroostook County and is the home of the world’s best potatoes. Behind me is one of the many potato fields that make up this beautiful part of the country. This is also the home of The Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp (ATLC) one of the premiere drug prevention and leadership camps in the country. I have had the privilege to be one of their keynote speakers and leadership trainers for the past 18 years.

The director of the camp is an extraordinary man by the name of Jack Foster who started the camp 23 years ago. The five day camp has helped thousands of students discover, develop, and strengthen their leadership skills. Participants are taught how to make positive healthy choices, the importance of teamwork, and how to make a difference in their community.

The theme for this year’s camp was “Think it, Believe it, Live it!” I love the theme because I think it represents the triad of what leadership and making a difference is built on. A perfect example of this is the ATLC camp itself. Jack Foster had an idea of creating a camp that would make a difference in kids lives (Think it), the more he thought about it the more excited he became (Believe it), he then took action and enrolled others to help him make it a reality (Live it).

Doug Cronkhite and Valerie Theriault are two examples of the amazing staff that come back year after year volunteering their time and expertise that help create this once in a lifetime experience for the campers. When you think it, believe it, and live it you can make a difference in the world.

Where in your life can you apply this simple but powerful formula to help you live an extraordinary life?
